The main reason for this is that this will prevent big companies from entering that specific market as the volume of sales will be too small to justify entering that market. This will ensure your success and that there is not too much competition. The narrower the market the higher your profits will be. However, be sure to choose a market that you can monetize. For example a site about jokes will be a lot more difficult to monetize than a site about franchises or home based businesses. So many marketers make this mistake and choose the wrong niche market and find it nearly impossible to monetize that traffic.

2) Capture the email address of your visitor.

One of the most important steps of running a home based business is that you need to get the email of your visitor. This will help you to market to them over and over again. Without doing this it will be very difficult for you to maximise your profits from your website. If you have a very big content site you can add a popup that cannot be blocked to get your visitor to join your newsletter. If you have a mini website send all your traffic to a squeeze page.

3) Become an expert at copywriting

To succeed online you need to be very good at copywriting. This will mainly be used for squeeze page, sales letters and emails. This skill is very important for actually monetizing your traffic.
